I took a break from blogging for a bit. I needed time to think about how I wanted to approach the site going forward. When I started the site a year ago this month, I had BIG plans for it – HUGE. I wanted to change blogging forever with Wet Hair, Don’t Care…I’m a dreamer and am constantly in my head, probably too much thinking and not enough doing from me.
Needless to say, that didn’t happen. I have no real good excuse for it, but Wet Hair, Don’t Care became just like every other blog…nothing wrong with other people’s blogs or anything, but as a millennial, I (of course) feel like I’m a special butterfly. I wanted the site to be a reflection of me and not everyone else. But I started falling into the trap of trying to attract people with what already works rather than doing my own thing.
Going forward, things will be a lil different. There will still be style posts because I love clothes, but I don’t have an unlimited budget. And I don’t get gifted stuff to wear like big time bloggers – so you will probs see me re-style things more. I want to be practical which I’ve stressed often. I’m always talking about”weather appropriateness” like here, here, here and finally here. I don’t want to foster needless consumerism for no reason. You don’t always need another pair of shoes or a new dress. I, myself, have to remember that and try harder to make what I already own work while investing in classic pieces (or maybe fun graphic muscle tanks like above…I can’t resist a word shirt to save my life.)
The site is also going to start to feature more current events and commentary. This is something really important to me and also another reason why I took a break. Sometimes I find it hard to post an outfit when there is another shooting of an African American person or police officers. Or here is a new recipe, but terrorists just attacked Nice…Don’t worry, it’s not going to be all doom and gloom here, but it’s important to recognize what’s going on in the world right now. So occasionally, I’m going to talk about my thoughts on current events. And some fun things too like the time I tried Pokémon Go for a day. It’s going to be a mix of important things and fun snarky things. I’m kinda a snarky person – I’d love for that to come out more!
Finally, I want to post more. I would LOVE to post twice a week; however, I am a one-woman shop here with a full-time job. Blogging is not my job (dream world someday lol). On top of my full-time office job, just like anyone else, I have outside of work obligations, like house stuff, family and friends. All this adds up and at the end of the day, I just want to sit on the couch and marathon a show because I’m so tired (right now it’s Daria…you should really re-watch it because it holds up majorly). You guys are tired too – I get that. So I don’t want to fall too heavily on that excuse. I’ve been doing this for almost a year now, and I’ve yet to find a groove. I’m gonna work out it – promise!!
Hopefully, you will see more to come in the future from Wet Hair, Don’t Care. I am really going to try to get this site to where I want it to be – a one stop shop for the busy stylish fun millennial chick. Thanks for hanging in there with me through ups and downs and stay tuned!
Peace out,
Wet Hair, Don’t Care
