Looks like Chicago is going to be gifted another gorgeous weekend coming up! I really wanted to get this post out before the weekend so you could finalize your brunch plans, and go to Summer House Santa Monica. This Lettuce Entertain You restaurant is located conveniently off the Sedgwick brown line stop in the heart of Lincoln Park. It’s the perfect spot for brunch or any meal for that matter.
A few weekends ago my girlfriends and I went there to celebrate a few birthdays. One of my friends made a reservation a few days in advance, making the process really easy when we arrived. Greeted by a friendly hostess, we immediately soaked in the bright and energetic atmosphere. The different dining rooms are flooded with light either from the glass retractable roof or open garage-style doors. They bring the outdoors inside! We were quickly seated by the hostess even though our whole party was not there (which was a good thing because our party slowly trickled in). Our waiter promptly took our drink orders, mine being an absolutely amazing bloody Mary, complete with extra bacon. One of my friends had rosé which the waiter asked what type she liked (she likes dryer) and recommended the driest one on the menu. The pour was also very generous. Another girlfriend ordered a mimosa which the waiter then asked what type of ratio do you prefer (champagne to orange juice), making the beverage to her specification in front of her! By the time we placed our orders and food arrived we were having a great time! The food was amazing too! Pictured above is my friend’s Original Breakfast Sandwich and my Smoked Salmon Hashbrowns Benedict (with the hollandaise on the side per my request). Another girlfriend got the french toast which was a HUGE portion (I don’t even think she could finish it), and the other two both got the breakfast tostadas that are actually their go-to’s. We all inhaled our food because it was so good. Our waiter overheard us talking about being there for birthday celebrations and surprised us with TWO deliciously chocolate chip cookies a la mode to share with everyone. After all the food was done, we continued to chat for awhile, never feeling rushed or like another table to turn over. They really let us enjoy our time together and catch up.
Overall, Summer House Santa Monica was an excellent brunch spot. I will definitely be going back in the future. They also have a lunch, dinner and gluten free menu so you can enjoy them in many different ways! So when you are making weekend plans for this good weather, considering spending your time at an endless summer establishment, Summer House Santa Monica.
