My Thoughts on Ralph Lauren’s Tender Romance Fragrance

***Note: I am a product junkie! Being the junkie that I am, I will try almost any product at least once, eventually forming an opinion on it. I usually share these opinions with my friends and family, but now, I’m gonna start sharing them with you wonderful people! Yay for you!! So get sorority-style excited to start seeing all sorts of product reviews coming through. I want them to be informative and honest, and I will not recommend something if I do not actually like it. All opinions are my own. I will also disclose if I did receive the product for free or if I spent my hard-earned buckaroos on it, in the event that makes you feel one way or the other about the review. All right, now that we have that all cleared up, on to my first product review…***

IMG_6196Up to bat first is Ralph Lauren’s Tender Romance fragrance. I actually received this item from Influenster, for FREE, in my first ever VoxBox. The back story is a lil long but kinda fun; however, if you want the bottom line recommendation, feel free to scroll to the bottom of the post.

When I got the e-mail I had been chosen for a box, I was super excited and then my heart SANK when I saw it was for perfume. I do not wear perfume for two reasons: a) I’m too lazy to put it on and b) I have crazy allergies so a lot of times fragrances end up just making me sneeze or eventually giving me a headache. Internally, I was panicking…like OMG how am I going to review something I don’t even typically use and might make me sick?! In my head, I tend to over exaggerate everything. Also…I hate to say, but I felt like the name was a little cheesy, but I kind of think all fragrance names are little cheesy?

Even though I was nervous, when the box came I still tore it open like a kid on Christmas morning because you know, I got a package in the mail – duh! Upon first look, I was like woa, it’s tiny! They gave me a mini bottle sample. So not the samples you get from Sephora in the little tubes, but a tiny little version of the big bottle. I thought the bottle design was very nice. If I had the full-sized version, it would look really pretty and sophisticated on my desk/vanity. So even if I didn’t like the actual smell of it, the bottle was cute enough!

Then the moment of truth…I took a whiff. It actually smelled really good. The first thing I thought of was this is sweet, but not hit you in your face I AM A GIRL sweet. It was a subtle sweet, like strawberries with sugar sprinkled on top. The next note that I noticed was it had a floral scent to it. Even with the sweet, floral notes, the fragrance was still light and fresh. I actually liked it right away. (Brief side bar, the only three other fragrances I’ve ever liked were the ever classic Chanel N°5Chance by Chanel and Very Hollywood by Michael Kors – this for your reference.)

Next up on my agenda was attempting to wear the fragrance for an extended period of time. I decided to wear it out during the day running errands and going out into the evening with my husband. The small application I put on in the late morning lasted all day. I was surprised at how much of a success it was. The fragrance didn’t over power my senses or cause any allergy attacks/headaches, but my husband did notice that I “smelled good” so that was a plus. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed having the fragrance on all day – it made me feel a little bit better about myself. I will still probably only pull it on special occasions just because I don’t wanna get too fancy for the day to day.

Bottom Line: Tender Romance by Ralph Lauren smells like a sweet, flowery spring day that does not overpower your senses or give you allergy attacks. It’s subtle enough to wear regularly but is still special enough for occasions, too. In the end, I would recommend this fragrance to someone who was in the market looking for a new scent.

Peace out,

What sold me on this perfume the first time was the commercial for it. I just love it!
